Area Distributors, Incis an independent, power transmission equipment distributor in the New York, Tri-State area. Founded in 1953 by Mr. Sossi,father of the current Michael Sossi Sr. the company started as an Electric Motor Repair business. The need for electric motor repairs enabled the family-owned business to thrive at the first location in Corona, New York until 1980 when they moved to Woodside, New York and transitioned into a complete sales company. This was done in 1985 and they have been at this location since.

As a family-owned company, over the years Mr. Michael Sossi Sr. and his son Michael Sossi Jr. deals with in-house sales of merchandise, and Mrs. Elizabeth Sossi is the very capable Accountant, that pays keen attention to the finances. Their other very hardworking and reliable staff members Thai, and Mr. Dan Capuano deals with the other day to day duties of the business. Although they are all not related by marriage or blood they are a true family. Michael just recently retired one of his trusted employees, Fran Hutchin who has been with them for over 30 years.
